Wind Season

In Salento peninsula there are two wind seasons really different one to the other.

During the summer season, between May and September, wind blow from NW, and in Torre San Giovanni area it become thermal wind from W-NW; it blows between 15 and 20 knots around noon, from 10:00 to 15:00. On the Adriatic coast the wind can easy blow up to 20 knots, getting 5/6 knots stronger in the afternoon.

During the winter season, from October to April, wind blow from S-SE. It is strong, some times more than 30kts with high waves, you can find the best spots to ride on the Ionian coast. When the North wind comes in Salento the Adriatic coast is good just for experienced kiter, it can be very strong and wavy, good for surfboard.
